Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den betting is banned. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship casino, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that features numerous luxuries on top of the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
