Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not permitted. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime destination, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that features many amenities accompanying the casino, which has 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and 88 tables.
